Alan Nurthen - Director, Producer, Writer, Actor Screen acting teacher and independent filmmaker Alan Nurthen has taught on-camera acting and video production for the past 22 years at some of Sydney's most prominent acting schools and educational institutions, including the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art, the JMC Academy and Bradfield College. Alan has also been training actors since 1988 at his own school, The Screen Actors Workshop. Alan's students have performed substantial dialogue roles in a variety of film and television productions, including The Matrix, The Phantom, Muriel's Wedding, The Thin Red Line, The Bangkok Hilton, White Collar Blue and Brides of Christ . Alan trained as an actor at New Theatre and then spent 7 years performing in a variety of film and television productions before going behind the scenes. His film industry credits include, directing the Swearing-in Ceremony of Police Commissioner Peter Ryan for the NSW Film Archives, corporate videos for clients as diverse as MYOB and The Queensland Department of Primary Industries, music clips, and the documentary films. Alan's doco project "Red-backs", was a follow up to his previous film "Funnel Webs", which is an irreverent look at the deadly spider and its affect on the psyche of Sydneysiders. It has sold to over 50 countries internationally through Beyond Distribution. It screened on the Seven Network's "The World Around Us" "Funnel Webs" also retails through The Australian Museum Shops and is part of the curriculum in science / biology / Australian Social Studies in secondary and high schools nationwide and is available through many public libraries including Manly & Mona Vale.
James Schramko As a past student of Alan, James learnt the right acting techniques from the beginning. Alan taught James how to win auditions. James has worked in Feature Films with top name actors including Rachel Griffiths and Toni Collette. James gained incredible confidence and skills from Acting Workshops and turned that into a highly successful award winning Sales and Management career path. James now operates profitable businesses both offline and online from his Sydney office. James and Alan decided to combine the Acting workshops and the power of the internet to help others reach new levels of confidence and opportunity, especially those who cannot practically attend a face to face lesson.
